A redeem code (gift code) adds days directly to your subscription. Codes are handed out in promotions, by partners or by our support team as compensation. This guide explains the format, the redemption steps, how days stack and how redeem codes differ from discount codes.
Code format
A redeem code consists of a batch prefix followed by two groups of four characters, separated by hyphens, for example TPBF26-19F5-F39E. Codes are case-insensitive and are converted to upper case for you; missing hyphens are filled in automatically. Watch out for look-alike characters such as the digit 0 and the letter O, or the digit 1 and the letter I.
Redeeming in the app
- Open the app, go to the Plans tab and tap Use a redeem code. You can also open it from Me → Redeem code.
- Type or paste the code and tap Redeem now.
- On success the screen shows the days granted and your new expiry date.
No redeem entry in the iOS app?
Because of app store rules, the iOS app does not show a redeem entry. Use the redeem page on this website instead: sign in first (the methods are the same as in the app, and an account is created automatically if you have none), then enter the code and tap Redeem. The result is identical to redeeming in the app; pull down to refresh in the app to see the new expiry date. Android users can use the website page as well.
How days stack
- Redeemed days are added after your current expiry date. They never overwrite or void the time you already have.
- If you have no active subscription (never subscribed, or expired), the days count from the day of redemption and the plan attached to the code is activated.
- A redeem code only adds days; it does not change your plan tier. For more devices or higher-tier lines, upgrade on the pricing page.
- The new expiry date applies immediately, with no need to sign in again.
One use per code
Each code can be redeemed exactly once and becomes invalid as soon as it has been used. A used code cannot be redeemed again or moved to another account, so do not share unused codes in public. Every batch also has an expiry date; redeem your code before it passes.
Redeem codes versus discount codes
| Redeem code | Discount code | |
|---|---|---|
| Effect | Adds days to your subscription | Reduces the price by a percentage at checkout |
| Where to use | Plans tab in the app, or the website redeem page | Only the "Discount code" field at website checkout |
| Shape | Prefix plus two groups of four characters, e.g. TPBF26-19F5-F39E | 3 to 16 letters, digits or underscores, e.g. WELCOME10 |
| Uses | Single use | A usage cap set by the issuer |
If you enter a discount code on the redeem page, it tells you that this is a discount code rather than a redeem code and points you to checkout; the app shows a similar notice. Conversely, pasting a redeem code into the discount field at checkout sends you to the redeem page. Discount codes cannot be used inside the app.
Common error messages
| Message | Meaning | Suggestion |
|---|---|---|
| This code does not exist | A typo, or the code belongs to no batch | Check look-alike characters such as 0/O and 1/I and try again |
| This code has already been redeemed | The code was used before | Codes are single use; contact whoever issued it |
| This code has expired | The batch is past its expiry date | Ask the issuer whether a new batch is available |
| This code batch is paused | The issuer paused the batch | Contact support to check |
| Your session has expired | You were signed out | Sign in again and retry |
Still not working?
Email support@tpvpn.com, or open a ticket under Me → Help & support → New ticket in the app, with the full code and your @handle, and we will check it manually. A redeem code contains no personal information and is safe to send to us. See also referral rewards and Managing your subscription and auto-renewal.
