Device limits per plan (Standard 4, Premium 8, Enterprise 50), how the 3-day trial follows the selected plan, removing devices and moving to a new phone.

One TP VPN account works on several devices at the same time. Each device is registered automatically the first time it connects and takes one slot; the number of slots depends on your plan. Once the limit is reached, a new device can only connect after an old one has been removed. This guide covers the limits, how to unbind a device yourself and how to move to a new phone.

During the 3-day trial, the limit of the subscription you selected applies. Slots are counted by registered devices, not by devices currently online: a device that has been registered keeps its slot whether it is online or not, until it is removed. Registered devices may all be online at the same time. After an upgrade the new limit applies immediately, without signing in again. See the pricing page for plan details.

How a device is registered

The first time you connect on a device, the app generates a WireGuard key pair locally. The private key is stored only in the iOS Keychain or the Android Keystore, and only the public key is uploaded when the device is registered. Each device has its own keys, so removing one device never affects the others, and a lost device can be revoked on its own.

Removing a device in the app

  1. Open the app and go to Me → Devices.
  2. The list shows the slots in use and the limit, plus each device's name and online status. The device you are using is marked "This device".
  3. Tap Remove device on the one you no longer use and confirm.

Removal revokes that device's public key immediately, disconnects it and frees the slot. To use that device again later, simply sign in on it; it is registered as a new device on its first connection.

Lost or stolen phone

Sign in on another device as soon as possible, open Devices and remove the missing phone. Once its key is revoked, it can no longer connect through your account.

Moving to a new phone

  1. Install TP VPN on the new phone (see the download page) and sign in with the same method you used before. Your subscription and remaining days follow the account; nothing needs to be transferred.
  2. On the first connection the new phone registers itself as a new device.
  3. If the app says the limit is reached, remove the old phone under Devices. A fresh key pair is generated on the new device; the old device's key is never transferred.
  4. If a subscription bought through the App Store or Google Play does not show as active on the new device, tap Restore purchases on the Plans tab.

Do this before you hand over or wipe the old phone, and sign out on the old phone afterwards.
