iOS setup guide

This guide walks through TP VPN on iPhone and iPad in the order you will meet each step, from installation to everyday use. The whole process usually takes about two minutes, and no configuration file ever needs to be imported by hand.

Requirements

iOS 17.0 or iPadOS 17.0 or later.
A working App Store account. If TP VPN cannot be found in your current store region, check the region of the account.

Step 1: install

Search for "TP VPN" in the App Store or use the button on the download page. Open the app after installation; the welcome screen appears on first launch.

TP VPN has no passwords. The first sign-in creates your account automatically; choose a subscription to start an eligible 3-day trial. The available methods:

Email code: enter your address and type the 6-digit code we send.
Passkey: verify with Face ID or Touch ID; the passkey is stored in iCloud Keychain and syncs to your other Apple devices.
Apple ID: sign in with Apple.
Crypto wallet and Telegram: under More options.

After signing in you are assigned an @handle. You can change it right away to something you like (3 to 15 lowercase letters, digits or underscores) or later under Me → Account details. If a friend invited you, enter their @handle on the sign-in screen.

Use the same method next time

Each sign-in method is a separate credential. When you change devices or reinstall the app, sign in with the method you first registered with; otherwise a new, empty account may be created.

Step 3: allow the VPN configuration

The first time you tap the connect button, iOS shows a prompt saying that "TP VPN" would like to add VPN configurations. Tap Allow and confirm with Face ID, Touch ID or your passcode. This is needed only once.

Afterwards the TP VPN configuration is listed under Settings → General → VPN & Device Management → VPN, and a VPN switch appears at the top level of Settings. If you tapped "Don't Allow" by mistake, the app shows "VPN permission needed"; tap Grant permission to bring the system prompt back.

Step 4: choose a scene and a node

The app has four tabs: Connect, Nodes, Plans and Me.

On the Connect tab, simply tap the connect button; Smart pick joins the best node based on latency, load and packet loss.
At the top of the Nodes tab you can switch between four categories: Smart pick, Gaming, AI services and Exchanges. Each filters nodes by its own strategy and groups them by country and region.
Tap the star next to a node to add it to favourites (up to 20); favourites and recently used nodes stay pinned at the top of the list. You can also search for a city or country directly.
Nodes with a lock icon belong to higher plans and unlock as soon as you upgrade.

Step 5: connect and disconnect

Once connected, the Connect tab shows "Connected", the current node and the connection time, and a VPN icon appears in the status bar. Tap the button again to disconnect. When you move from Wi-Fi to cellular, the tunnel resumes in place without a new sign-in; if it drops unexpectedly, the app reconnects automatically and shows the attempt count.

Recommended settings

Under Me → Settings:

Auto-connect on launch: the app connects with the last scenario you used as soon as it opens.
Default scenario: set the category you use most, for example Gaming.
Theme and language: follow the system or choose manually.

Subscriptions, redeem codes and devices

Plans: the Plans tab shows your current plan, expiry date and usage for this period, and lets you buy or upgrade through the App Store. If a purchase does not show as active, tap Restore purchases.
Managing the subscription: subscriptions bought through the App Store are managed under Settings → Apple account → Subscriptions; see Managing your subscription and auto-renewal.
Redeem codes: because of store rules the iOS app shows no redeem entry. Use the website redeem page instead, then pull down to refresh in the app to see the new expiry date.
Devices: view and remove devices under Me → Devices; see Device limit and unbinding.

Common issues

Connected but no internet. Switch to Smart pick and reconnect. If that fails, choose a node in another country and make sure Set Automatically is on under Settings → General → Date & Time.

Frequent disconnections. Check Settings → Cellular → Cellular Data Options → Low Data Mode and the Low Data Mode switch in the details of your current Wi-Fi network; both should be off. Also turn off other VPN or proxy apps, because iOS allows only one active VPN configuration at a time.

The App Store says the app is unavailable. Confirm the system version and check the region of your account.

Will it drain the battery? WireGuard's cryptography is lightweight and nothing is sent while there is no traffic; actual consumption depends mainly on how much data you transfer.

Removing it completely. Deleting the app also removes the VPN configuration. To delete your account, see Account migration and sign-in methods.
